Our practice specialises in CBT or Cognitive Behaviour Therapy . This form of psychological therapy has been shown by research to be the psychological treatment of choice for social anxiety.
CBT addresses the emotions, behaviour, thoughts, and beliefs behind psychological difficulties. Unlike many counselling approaches, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy focuses on teaching individuals practical techniques to manage and overcome their psychological problems. Many different techniques are utilised depending on the types of problems a person is experiencing. Some examples of these techniques include: training in recognising and challenging negative thoughts and beliefs, desensitisation techniques, relaxation therapy, training in problem-solving approaches, etc.
